Nagaland: St. John College observes ‘World Poetry Day’

Students of St. John College on the occasion of ‘World Poetry Day’ celebration on March 21.

Dimapur, March 25 (EMN): English department of St. John College observed the ‘World Poetry Day’ on March 21 by organising a poetry slam competition.

An update from the college stated that the programme began with a note on ‘Poetry Day’ delivered by Inakali Assumi, HoD and assistant professor of English department.

It stated that the competition was filled with an array of participants with their original poems. It added that the participants delivered performances that were creative in content, talked about relevant and significant themes of the present generation and the nature of life.

The poetry slam was judged on a few criteria namely composition, expression, body gesture, diction, creativity and authenticity. Ilisa Chishi of the English department won the first position, while Ivuli Yeptho secured the second position.
