DIMAPUR — MLA S Toiho Yepthomi said on Tuesday that Nagas, as a diverse society, must first remove ‘ism’ from society so that all can grow together.

Speaking as the chief guest during the general conference of the Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) held under the theme ‘envisioning beyond’ at Ikishe Village Baptist Church, Chümoukedima, he said that Nagas should work together as a society to foster peace and unity so society progresses alongside the nation.

On the occasion, he encouraged former and present WSYF executives to stand united in all aspects of life and noted that to envision the future, one must introspect and retrospect.

As human beings, he said, people should examine their own hearts and lives first, judge themselves, and be merciful towards others. He stated that the world would be better if people worked on their flaws and weaknesses; and instead of judging others harshly, people should be more gracious towards one another.

Encouraging the youths, the chief guest stated that there are no shortcuts in life. He said that to achieve success, one must work hard with determination and prayer, and encouraged the youths to always prioritise God in every aspect of life.

Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, executive secretary of WSBAK, invoked blessings upon the former and newly elected WSYF executive members during the programme, while Shikaho Zhimomi, president of WSH, and Vikuto Achumi, president of WSKH, delivered greetings. A special song was presented by Vivi Yeptho.

Rev. Dr. Ahoto Chophi, pastor of Ikishe Village Baptist Church, gave the invocation prayer, while Jacob Achumi, assistant pastor of SBCD, pronounced the benediction.

Vikato Achumi, vice president of Western Sümi Hoho (WSH), announced the newly elected WSYF executive members on the occasion. Otoka H Yeptho has been elected the new president. He will be supported by Atokiho Swu as the general secretary and Ato Shohe as the joint secretary.

Boto Chophy is the new vice president for mobilisation, and Ikato Zhimomi G.B. will serve as the secretary for mobilisation. Ikato Awomi has been given charge of the skill development & statistics/data portfolio as vice president.

Other key positions include Botoho Achumi as secretary for skill development & statistics/data, Piwoka Chisho as vice president for sports & culture, and Vinoto Awomi as secretary for sports & culture.

Kakiho Awomi is the new vice president for finance & accounts and will be assisted by Toikhu Chophy as secretary for finance & accounts. The women’s wing will be led by Illi Ikatoli Achumi as vice president and Illi Shikani Awomi as secretary.

In addition to the executive members, 17 central executive council members were also elected. The presidents of the 10 areas will also be part of the central executive council.

Representatives from the different units under WSYF and executives of Sümi Officers’ Union Dimapur (SOUD), Western Sümi Sports Association (WSSA), Western Sümi Totimi Hoho (WSTH), WSH, Western Sümi Kükami Hoho (WSKH), and Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU), led by their respective presidents, attended Tuesday’s programme.
