Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): A newly constructed rural haat at Mongsenyimti village in Mokokchung district supported by NABARD was inaugurated by its general manager, Tiakala Ao, on March 24.
The rural market haat was inaugurated in the presence of SDO (C), Mokokchung, Sentilong Ozukum; joint director of SARS, Mokokchung, Temsuinla; DDM NABARD, Mokokchung, S Amarjit Mangang; chairman and members of the village council; resident of the village/ farmers and SHG members.
The haat was implemented by Mongsenyimti village council with the financial assistance from NABARD under its marketing initiative programme. The haat is equipped with raised platform, storage godown, solar lighting, toilets, waste bin and water tank, an update from the village council stated.
During the inauguration, Tiakala Ao congratulated the market construction committee and the village council for successfully implementing the project following all the required NABARD’s specifications. She further advised the market management committee to ensure that the market haat location becomes a hub for various agriculture related activities in order to uplift the economic condition of the farmers.
She further shared on the various development initiatives and programmes which the NABARD has taken up for the state and in the district in particular.
Also speaking on the occasion, Sentilong Ozukum thanked the NABARD for taking up the initiative of constructing the rural haat which would benefit the farmers and local people of the area. He urged the villagers and farmers to make proper use of the infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the village council chairman, Aosungit Ozukum, expressed gratitude to NABARD and expressed confidence that it would benefit the farmers, artisans and SHG members.
