Nagaland: RTA deliberates on traffic congestion in Kohima
Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): A meeting of Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kohima, was held on Friday at DC’s conference hall, under the chairmanship of DC Kohima, Shanavas C.
In the meeting, issues regarding the traffic congestion faced by the public of Kohima were laid to the house, and a thorough deliberation was held on how to take corrective measures and steps to ease the ever-growing traffic congestion, a DIPR report stated.
Reports based on spot verification by the magistrate along with the police officers and colony/ward officials in different locations/areas/lanes and the proposal/suggestions made by the verifying officers were discussed.
“Issues like putting up signage/ stickers of parking/no-parking, increasing of smart city buses for public utility, issuing permits for purchasing private buses and permits for two-wheeler taxis for educated unemployed youths, towing off-road vehicles and building materials along the highway and fixing rate for two wheeler taxis plying between Kohima and ISBT were also discussed for appropriate action,” it stated.
The meeting was attended by district administration, RTO, police (traffic), Kohima Municipal Council, Nagaland State Transport, PWD (R&B), PWD (NH), Urban Development, Kohima Smart City & Development Limited (KSMCL), and Kohima Village Youth Organisation.
