Nagaland registers 29% hike in GST

Dimapur: Nagaland registered a 29% increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection in April against the same month last year.

Nagaland’s GST revenue collection for April 2023 was INR 88 crore, compared to INR 68 crore collected during the same month in 2022.

As per the finance minister’s report, the country’s GST revenue collection for April 2023 reached an all-time high of INR 1.87 lakh crore, surpassing the previous highest collection of INR 1,67,540 crore recorded in April last year, which is an increase of INR 19,495 crore or 12% hike.

Furthermore, the highest tax-ever collected on a single day was recorded on April 20, 2023 with INR 68,228 crore through 9.8 lakh transactions.

The government has settled INR 45,864 crore to CGST and INR 37,959 crore to SGST from IGST, it was informed. The total revenue of Centre and the states in the month of April 2023 after regular settlement was INR 84,304 crore for CGST and INR 85,371 crore for the SGST.

The Northeast states’ GST revenue collection for April 2023 was led by Assam with a total collection of INR 1,513 crore, followed by Sikkim with INR 426 crore, Meghalaya with INR 239 crore, Arunachal Pradesh with INR 238 crore, Tripura with INR 133 crore, Manipur with INR 91 crore, Nagaland with INR 88 crore, and Mizoram with INR 71 crore.

In terms of  GST revenue growth rate in April 2023 compared to the collection from the same month in the previous year, Sikkim registered the highest growth rate at 61%, followed by Mizoram at 53%, Manipur 32%, Nagaland 29%, Tripura 25%, Arunachal Pradesh 21%, Assam 15%, and Meghalaya 9%.
