Nagaland records 109 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths; 38K new infections in India

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN):
After recording less than 100 new Covid-19 cases for three consecutive days, Nagaland on Wednesday reported 109 fresh infections, taking the state’s tally to 26,249.

The department of Health and Family Welfare updated that 55 new cases were reported in Kohima, 25 in Dimapur, 23 in Mokokchung, three in Peren, two in Wokha and one in Mon during the last 24 hours.

A total of 49 recoveries were also registered on Wednesday with 27 of them from Kohima, seven from Dimapur, five each from Mokokchung and Phek, four from Mon, and one from Longleng.

The number of recoveries in the state has now increased to 23,987 while death toll stands at 502 with two more casualties reported in the last 24 hours.

There are 1017 active cases in the state currently, out of which 797 are asymptomatic, 161 mild, 26 moderate on oxygen, 15 severe on oxygen, nine in ICU without ventilator, and another nine in ICU on ventilator.

In terms of district-wise distribution of active cases, Kohima has 267, Dimapur- 262, Mokokchung- 255, Zunheboto- 40, Mon- 36, Wokha- 34, Phek- 27, Tuensang- 27, Kiphire-25, Longleng- 22, and Peren- 22.

India reports more than 38K new cases

India on Wednesday reported 38,792 new coronavirus cases, taking the total infection tally to 3,09,46,074 (3.09 crore) and active caseload to 4,29,946  (4.29 lakh), according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Meanwhile, the death toll reached 4,11,408 (4.11 lakh) with 624 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. 

It said that 3,01,04,720 (3.01 crore) people had recovered from Covid-19, out of which  41,000 patients had recovered in the last 24 hours.

Moreover, India’s cumulative vaccination coverage has exceeded 38.76 crore with a total of 38,76,97,935 vaccine doses administered through 49,10,876 sessions.

The country’s weekly positivity rate remains below 5%, currently at 2.25% and daily positivity rate stands at 2.10%, less than 3% for 23 consecutive days, the update informed.
