Nagaland: Political parties urged to reserve 33% seats in A/C for women

Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): M Chuba Ao, the national vice president of BJP urged all political parties to reserve at least 33% of the assembly constituency for women candidates, starting with the 2023 assembly elections.

He stated it while congratulating S Phangnon Konyak, State BJP Mahila Morcha president for being nominated as the UDA consensus candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election, a press release informed.

Stating that it is the first time a woman candidate has been nominated for the Rajya Sabha, he said that it reflects the endeavour of prime minister Narendra Modi towards women empowerment and gender parity.
