Nagaland Police has claimed to have seized several cases of assorted liquor and other intoxication substances across the stand in the past three days and arrested more than 13 persons.
An update from Nagaland Police stated that on January 20, the Wokha Police Station personnel led by SDPO, while conducting a routine inspection of shops, seized a huge number of IMFL and arrested one person during the raid.
On the same day, a joint team comprising DEF Peren, Narcotic personnel and CISF, while conducting a routine inspection at Teipuiki Bridge, intercepted one Maruti Alto 800 which was proceeding to Dimapur from Senapati. It stated the enforcement team recovered 50 soap cases containing suspected heroine weighing an approximate 600 gram worth INR 1.71 crore from the possession of a husband and wife. It added that a case has been registered at Narcotic Cell, Kohima.
In addition, a team from the Narcotics Branch intercepted a Mahindra Bolero car at Teipuki area of Peren district and recovered 1 kg and 140 gram of suspected heroin. It stated that five persons have been accused and further investigation going on.
On January 19, DEF Phek police personnel under Pfutsero police station apprehended one person and seized liquors comprising 104 cans of Kingfisher beer and MC liquor.
On the same day, police personnel manning Khuzama inter-state check gate intercepted two bolero cars and recovered 16 bags of Areca nuts weighing around 680 kg. The seized items along with vehicles and the detained persons have been handed over to the Customs department.
Further on January 19, personnel from South Police Station, during a raid at Lerie colony in Kohima, apprehended one person and seized IMFL.
Also in Longkhim under Tuensang district, police seized liquor worth INR 1,53, 000 during a raid and arrested three persons.
