Nagaland plans to phase out manual issuance of ILP, SC/ST certificates

Dimapur, April 22 (EMN): Chief Secretary of Nagaland, J Alam on Friday proposed to phase out manual process of issuing Inner Line Permit (ILP), and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe certificates in the state and make it digital within 3-4 months.

The proposal was made during the joint review meeting of Information Technology and Communication department and Power department at the chief secretary’s conference hall, wherein officials discussed at length the issues related to daily operations and current projects as well as problems hampering the smooth functioning of the two departments.

Giving a presentation on its current activities, the department of Information Technology and Communication expressed concern over non-availability of real time data, information and regular updates from certain departments, as it affects the operation of state government’s official portal and in providing regular updates and information to the general public, informed an update from DIPR.

It added that the department also shared some of its important current activities like the State Data Centre which hosts the websites and applications of 70 departments, online ILP, common service centres across the state, etc. The department also shared a few infrastructure and capital shortage that are affecting its service output.

Meanwhile, the chief secretary lauded the department for its good work and urged the officers “to further continue to bring new developments and innovations to the working of the state government”.

The Power department also presented a detailed report of its activities and projects, and those that are awaiting approval. It lamented shortage of manpower in carrying out maintenance work, which one of the most important tasks of the department, said the update.

One major topic discussed at the meeting was the purchase of power at very high rates from certain power sources, informed the update, adding that the department also highlighted some new solar plant projects it is planning to take up in the coming months. I

The Chief Secretary commended the Power department for relatively improving the power situation, power purchase and revenue in the state.
