Nagaland news in brief: NLA social work, GPRN/NCSN terminates cadre and more
NLA speaker, dy. speaker lead social work initiatives
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Legislative Assembly is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary on October 29. Before that, a week-long series of social work initiatives is underway within the NLA premises from October 21 to 25, led by the NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer and Deputy Speaker S Toiho Yeptho, according to an update. The celebration, themed “Embracing innovation and celebrating legacy,” will have the Governor as the guest of honour. The event will witness the gathering of all members of the 14th NLA, former IBM, former parliamentarians, prominent figures, and AHoDs/HoDs.
GPRN/NCSN terminates cadre
DiDIMAPUR — The N Kitovi Zhimomi-led GPRN/NCSN has terminated Major Amento, bearing A/No. 17532, son of Ghozheto from Phesami village in the Sumi region, from active national service. The termination was due to his involvement in assaulting comrades, causing serious injuries, using criminal force against his superior, and abusing alcohol and drugs. A termination letter issued by Major General Yekuto Zhimo, deputy commander-in-chief, stated that the decision was made to safeguard the party as per NARRA, Article 83 (Clause II), Article 85 (Clause II), and Article 92 (Clause I, Section B), effective from October 21.
NSCN (IM) Chakhesang Region holds regional meet
DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Region of NSCN (IM) held a regional meeting on October 19 and declared its unwavering dedication to the Naga cause and steadfast loyalty to the collective leadership. It further pledged to uphold and stand by the party’s principles and the Naga’s unique history, honouring the Naga past and preserving heritage for future generations. “We express our absolute support for the Framework Agreement, to secure justice and peace for the Naga people,” it said and declared “deep commitment to the cause of a sovereign Naga nation” and vowed to give their very best to achieve this cherished goal. “With courage and unity, we stand ready to serve and sacrifice for our Naga Nation,” it concluded.
Mass social work conducted in Pungro
DIMAPUR — The Pungro sub-division administration, following a directive from the Home department and the deputy commissioner of Kiphire, organised a mass social work in Pungro town on Monday. According to a DIPR report, the mass social work witnessed wide participation from residents, government officials, NGOs and local businesses. Participants worked together to clean public spaces, clear drainage systems, and improve the town’s infrastructure.
CANSSEA urges members to participate in cleanliness drive
DIMAPUR — The Confederation of all Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA), in reiteration of its vision 2024-2027, Resolution No. 2 Clause B on sanitation awareness for government employees, has appealed to all its members at the state headquarters to actively participate in the cleanliness drive called by the state government on October 25, starting at 7:00 am in the designated locations as stated in the notification.
