Dimapur —  Expressing strong opposition against the Centre’s move to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the Lok Janshakti Party – Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) Nagaland has urged the state government to pass a resolution in the assembly opposing the UCC.

The LJP-RV Nagaland unit, which held a marathon state executive meeting on Saturday at De Oriental Grand, Kohima, resolved that the party shall not accept any dilution of the special provision for the State of Nagaland under Article 371 (A).

The meeting also urged the Government of India and the Naga political parties to bring about a solution to the Naga political issue without further delay.

Condemning the ongoing violence in Manipur, the party appealed both the Union and state governments to actively initiate measures for restoration of normalcy and peaceful co-existence amongst the various communities in the state.

Further, the party urged the state government to bring about transparency and accountability in governance and to provide “right development in the right place.”

During the meeting, the party also conveyed appreciation to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for taking the party’s two MLAs Dr. Sukhato A Sema and Konyak into confidence of the Government.

“The LJP-RV, Nagaland has further placed on record of our strong appreciation to Shri JP Naddaji, the Hon’ble National President, BJP for having extended an invitation to Shri Chirag Paswanji, Hon’ble National President, LJP-RV and MP, LS in the NDA once again,” the party stated.

Meanwhile, LJP-RV Nagaland lauded Dr. Sukhato A Sema and Shri Naiba Konyak for their tireless efforts in taking forward the party to a new height, and expressed optimism that under their leadership, the aspiration of the party will be achieved.
