Dimapur, July 4 (EMN):
Advisor for Information and Public Relations, SCERT and Village Guards late Toshi Wungtung was laid to rest at Sanghur village after a public funeral service was held at the pubic ground in Shamator on Sunday.

The funeral service of the late legislator in Shamator was not a day of mourning but a celebration of his legacy as people who spoke at his funeral remembered the sacrifices he made for his community, friends, people of eastern Nagaland and for the Nagas.

Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant, who spoke at the funeral, remarked that the passing away of Wungtung was a personal loss for him. Recounting his first meeting with the late legislator, the DC said Wungtung was a ‘brilliant orator who was always cheerful;’ he was one of the most influential men he came across and whose depth of knowledge was immense and left him in awe, he added.

The DC said Wungtung guided him with right advice at the right time.

“He had lots of unfinished dreams for us, for the district, for Shamator and for the eastern Nagaland and which we will try to fulfil”, Ramnikant assured.

‘Late Wungtung was a resourceful person in the state government and who worked relentlessly for the eastern Nagaland given his experience among the 20 Eastern Nagaland Legislatures Union”, Advisor for Fishery, Evaluation, Economics and Statistics L Khumo recalled.

Recounting his last meeting with the late legislator on April 4 in Kohima, Khumo shared that they both had planned to visit Shamator to reach out and work for the people.

Meanwhile, L Shahoto a close associate of the late legislator and Yimchungru Tribal Council President Throngso Yimchunger said late Wungtung’s unfulfilled dream was to recognise Shamator as a district for his people and expressed hope that his unfinished projects and dream would be fulfilled.

The funeral service in Shamator concluded with a guard of honour before his mortal remains were taken to Sanghur village for the final rite.
