Nagaland launches 100 days Mission Shakti campaign
DIMAPUR — Nagaland has launched ‘Mission Shakti,’ a 100 days special awareness campaign under SANKALP-Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) on women centric schemes, which will run from June 21 to October 4.
In this regard, a meeting of the state-level committee on Mission Shakti was held under the chairmanship of Nagaland Chief Secretary, Dr. J Alam, on June 25 at the conference hall of the chief secretary, New Secretariat, Kohima, which was attended by administrative head of departments (AHoD) and representatives from various converging departments.
Delivering an introduction on Mission Shakti, the secretary of Social Welfare, Martha R Ritse, gave an overview of the 100 days special awareness campaign under SANKALP–Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) on women centric schemes, launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. She informed that the campaign would run from June 21 to October 4.
The key objective was to ensure that women across the country are made aware of initiatives of the government and to enable them have access to the resources and support available to them.
A DIPR report stated that under the banner of SANKALP-HEW and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), special awareness campaigns are being carried out in all 16 districts of Nagaland.
Speaking at the meeting, the chief secretary emphasised that the 100-day awareness campaign should be effectively carried out on the ground.
Report stated that presentations were made on the status of the implementation of Mission Shakti scheme in the state and the annual state action plan for Mission Shakti for the Financial Year 2024-25 was approved.
It added that joint deliberation was held to strengthen convergent action plan for implementation of various Mission Shakti schemes which included SANKALP-HEW, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sakhi-One Stop Centre, 181-Women Helpline, Pradhan Mantri Mantru Vandana Yojana, Palna, Sakhi Niwas and Shakti Sadan.
SANKALP-HEW digital literacy
With the launch of 100 days special awareness campaign under SANKALP-HEW, a 6-month Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) course, a digital literacy skill training for women and girls was introduced on June 24 at AICSM Chozuba Centre in Chozuba town.
The programme was chaired by Veshosa Keyho, proprietor and branch director of AICSM Chozuba Centre.
In a keynote address, Vilenuo K Thisa, district mission coordinator of DHEW, Phek, stressed on the importance of skill training for women and girls from weaker section for better living standard and to support their livelihood. She encouraged the students to take advantage of the course and upskill themselves.
Veposelü Naroh, gender specialist at DHEW, Phek, stressed on the importance of digital literacy. She stated that technology can be used to improve the quality of life. She further highlighted on components of Mission Shakti.
Altogether, 5 female are enrolled for the programme.
