Resolves to impeach Khango if he fails to nulify order
EM Bureau
Kohima/Dimapur, Jan. 5 (EMN): The Khango-led NSCN council of kilonsers, tatars, secretariat staff, army officers and party functionaries on Thursday overturned the impeachment order on Ato Kilonser Isak Sumi, and declared it “null and void”.
President of NSCN/GPRN-K, Khango Konyak, in an order on January 4, had impeached and removed Isak Sumi for allegedly ‘grabbing absolute control of powers and functions without the concern of collective leadership’.
Sumi was charged with ‘non-distribution of powers and functions, nepotism and self-style one-man government policy which is completely in violation of the Yezhabo and discipline’.
The president had further stated that Sumi was discharged of all of his powers and duties and would no longer be a member of NSCN/GPRN-K.
Following the impeachment order, the Khango-led NSCN council held an emergency meeting in which the president was accused of not observing ‘constitutional norms’, and had issued the impeachment order “without the approval and recommendation of the council of kilonsers or the tatar hoho and without acquiring two third majority of the party workers at the behest of few rogue elements”.
“The house therefore condemn the unconstitutional and high handed act of the President, thus resolve to declare the order null and void immediately,” it said.
Further, in the event of the failure on the part of the president to nullify the impeachment order, the house unanimously resolved to impeach him with immediate effect.
WC-NNPG convenor requests retrieval of arms, documents from CF office
Meanwhile, convenor of Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) N Kitovi Zhimomi, in a letter to the chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group, requested for the immediate retrieval of “government arms and documents from saboteurs” at NSCN/GPRN Ceasefire office at Thilisu.
Zhimomi stated that “few irresponsible elements” within the Khango-Isak group, had “arrested and inflicted physical injuries” upon Isak Sumi and later released upon the intervention of GBs and civil societies.
‘They continue to occupy CF office illegally, along with arms and ammunition of the organisation’, it said.
‘Isak Sumi is one of the co-conveners actively participating in the Indo-Naga talks and it is duty-bound for WC-NNPG to evict the unruly elements, peacefully or forcefully, and retrieve all arms and documents in possession of the saboteurs,’ read the statement.
Zhimomi further alleged that “these elements” were planning to escape Dimapur with arms and “join the Yang Aung group of NSCN in Myanmar”.
“There are also seven/eight of Co-Convener Isak’s men held inside under duress. I would appreciate it if they are promptly released,” it said.
He, therefore, requested the chairman to intervene and ensure prompt recovery of arms and documents to Isak Sumi within 36 hours.

“The commander and his cadres loaded their guns, pointed the weapons at the President WSH and his team, threatening with dire consequences , using abusive words without ascertaining the intention of the Hoho, which cannot be tolerated at any cost, neither the sanctity of WSH, its frontal organisations and the GBs can be compromised,” read the statement.
