Jotsoma, Dec. 30 (EMN): Jotsoma Nuolhou Kehou (Jotsoma Citizens’ Conclave) was held on Friday at Jotsoma local ground in Kohima district with the participation of thousands of its citizens from far and wide after 32 years.

Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency (AC), Keneizhakho Nakhro, who attended the occasion as the speaker, expressed delight on the large gathering of people and opined that such programmes should be organised even in the days to come.

He called upon the Jotsoma citizens to reminiscent how far the village have progress over the years and told the gathering to retrospect if they are abled to do the work and achievements of their forefathers.

Highlighting that Jotsoma village was a prominent village even during the British era, he told the citizens to examine themselves and assess if they are at par with the rest of the Naga society and the world.

Nakhro reminded his village men and women that Jotsoma is a blessed village with rich natural resources and told them to make progress in livelihood and sustainability and to realise what had gone wrong.

The legislator challenged the youth to stand on their own feet and to change their mentality of dependence on parents or being complacent and to contribute towards the progress of the village.

He further exhorted the citizens to have vision and give back to the village. He also called for oneness and unity, which he said is the legacy of the village. He further emphasised on the need to preserve and protect the village reserved forests and other natural resources, which according to him are priceless treasures.

Zakiebito Senotsu, Head GB delivered, stressed on the need to upkeep the good practices of the forefathers and also enlightened the gathering on the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the age-old practices.

Dr. Lhuviralie Nakhro, in his speech, stressed to maintain unity of the village. Pointing out on the stiff competitive world, he expressed on the need to have vision and press forward. He told the citizens to forgive one another of the past rancour and march ahead for the betterment of the village.

Rudolie Nagi, chairman of Jotsoma Village Council (JVC), in greetings, stressed on the need to preserve and promote the tradition and native language. He urged to upkeep the village legacy of unity and oneness, help one another and be a model for progressive village.

Pfüneinyü Nakhro pronounced the elderly blessing for the citizens and invoked oneness and progress of the village, while Pelevito Nakhro, secretary of the organising committee, enlightened the gathering that it has 5068 members with 1186 households.

Convenor of the organising committee, Pfükhrielie Peseyie, in his introductory speech, stated that event was organised after 32 years with an objective to understand one another better and connect the citizens far and wide.

On the occasion Thekrünoma Khel, Kenei Krotho of Tsieyama Khel presented cultural dances and songs.

Khunyü Rino delivered the vote of thanks, while an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Zakiebinyü Nakhro. The programme concluded with a benediction said by Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino.
