Nagaland: Healthcare workers in Mokokchung trained on HBYC
Dimapur, Aug. 29 (EMN): A three-day block-level training for GNM,CHO,DCM and BAC on home based care for young child (HBYC) was held from August 23 to the 25th in the conference hall of the chief medical officers’ (CMO) office in Mokokchung town.
Delivering the welcome address, the CMO of Mokokchung, Dr. Limatula Aier, urged the participants to effectively implement the knowledge acquired from the training. She also thanked the resource persons namely Chubala Pongen, senior programme manager, and Benjungtoshi, programme manager from the directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima, for taking the initiative to train the healthcare workers, an update from the CMO’s office stated.
Making a powerpoint presentation, Chubala Pongen highlighted the status of home based new born care (HBNC) in Mokokchung district. She stated that HBYC was rolled out as an extension of the HBNC, which is currently implemented across the country.
The participants were trained on introduction to POSHAN Abhiyan and HBYC, addressing social vulnerability to improve coverage of children under HBYC, orientation on new MCP card, roles and responsibility of ASHA, AWW, ANM in HBYC.
It mentioned that HBYC aims at improving the nutritional status of young children, ensure proper growth, early childhood development, prevent childhood illness such as diarrhea and Pneumonia and deaths resulting from them.
