Nagaland Governor lauds ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative

Nagaland Governor lauds ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative
La. Ganesan along with the people of Telangana on the occasion of their state foundation day at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Sunday.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, on Sunday appreciated the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative which embodies unity in diversity and pointed out that through such programmes, states learn from each other’s cultures, fostering brotherhood and understanding.

The governor stated this during the Telangana state foundation day programme held at Raj Bhavan in Kohima. He congratulated the people of Telangana on the special day and stated that it is the second year of observing the important day, an update from Raj Bhavan stated.

“Telangana, with its rich history, vibrant culture and remarkable progress, has significantly contributed to our country. Today, as we honour Telangana, we not only recognise its unique identity but also embrace the unity that binds us all as Indians, despite our diverse backgrounds. Telangana’s journey, from its formation to its notable achievements, tells a story of strength, determination and cultural richness. The songs and dances we enjoyed today, performed by Telangana’s people living here in Nagaland, highlight the state’s rich heritage and vibrant spirit, reminding us of the diverse traditions, languages, and customs that coexist in our nation,” the governor said.

Ganesan stated that the celebration is not just about Telangana’s foundation but a reaffirmation of collective commitment to promoting national unity. He added that such events build understanding, create friendships and pave the way for a harmonious co-existence.

The governor thanked the people of Telangana living in Nagaland for enriching culture and demonstrating the unity and diversity. Stating that their heritage reminds of the beauty of nation’s diverse culture, he expressed hope that the connection between Telangana and Nagaland keep growing stronger, showing the true spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.’

The celebration was marked with the presence of the people of Telangana from Kohima and Dimapur. Telugu cultural songs and folk dances were performed by Mohan Rao, Hemalatha and group and Bhoomika and group.

The commissioner and secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, delivered the welcome address, while the president of Nagaland Telugu Samaj, Shankar Surada, gave a speech on Telangana state and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the joint secretary to Governor, Mhomo Tungoe.
