Nagaland Governor, Chief Minister extend Kuhlang-Nyi greetings to Tikhir community

Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on Tuesday, extended Kuhlang-Nyi greetings to the Tikhir community and the people of the state.

The governor, in a message, said Kuhlang-Nyi is a warrior’s festival celebrated in the third week of January every year, wherein men ‘determine themselves to be brave and courageous’.

“Taking oath that, they cannot be defeated at times of wars and attacks from the enemies. Men folks gather at the morung encouraging each other to be brave and to get prepared themselves to face the war with courage. They also celebrate their victory over the enemies. Today, it’s observed as a festival preparing themselves to face the year long challenges,” read the message.

Rio also took to Twitter to extend Kuhlang-Nyi greetings on the auspicious occasion.

“Greetings to the Tikhir community on the occasion of Kuhlang-Nyi, the post-harvest festival of thanksgiving to the Almighty. May the essence of the festival of generousity and sharing foster oneness and bring blessings of prosperity in the year ahead,” he wrote.
