Nagaland government reassigns professor to Wangkhao College following student protests
DIMAPUR — A day after a student-led protest over the shortage of teaching staff, the Nagaland state Higher and Technical Education department has assigned an Environmental Science (EVS) professor to Wangkhao Government College (WGC) in Mon.
The department issued an order on September 28, reassigning Wedete Kapfo, an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science from Pfutsero Government College, to WGC, replacing Menguzenuo Nakhro, who was recently transferred from WGC to Pfutsero Government College.
The order follows a protest rally organised by the Wangkhao Government College Students’ Union on September 26, where students voiced their concerns over the transfer of their only EVS professor, which would have left them without an instructor for the subject.
Further, the department also ordered the retention of another assistant professor (EVS), Kevilevonou Monica Kezie-o, at Zunheboto Government College, with immediate effect.
