Elect the best among us, says JD(U)’s Nagaland candidate

Janata Dal United (JD-U) candidate for 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency (AC), T. Chalukumba Ao, on Saturday appealed to the voters to elect the best from among the four of them vying to win the seat in the Nagaland Assembly election scheduled to be held on February 27.

Chalukumba activated his camp at his brother’s residence in Chungtia village on Saturday.

Speaking to journalists, he said that he will declare his candidature within a few days after consulting with the village council.

“There was apprehension on my part, however, no untoward incident has happened till now and the situation is calm and peaceful in the village,” he said.

Appealing to the people of Koridang constituency to create calm and peaceful atmosphere for a free and fair election, he said: “Vote for the best candidate among the four candidates to represent the people.”

Four candidates — T. Chalukumba Ao (JD-U), Imkong L. Imchen (BJP), Toshikaba (NPF) and I Talitsuba Imchen (IND) – are contesting from 28 Koridang AC.

Chungtia Village Council Chairman N Bendang also said that the village is looking forward to conducting a free and fair election.

Nagaland will go to the poll to elect 59 representatives to the 14th state assembly on February 27 before the votes counted on March 2. BJP candidate Kazheto Kinimi was declared elected unopposed on Friday after his opponent N Khekashe Sumi of Indian National Congress withdrew his nomination. (Mokokchung, EMN)
