DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Secretary and Chairman of Nagaland Education Mission Society (NEMS), J Alam, on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV)-residential hostels and Morung Concept of Education implemented under Samagra Shiksha Nagaland at the Chief Secretary Conference Hall.

The review meeting was convened as a follow up of the impact study conducted by the Education department of Nagaland University led by Dr. Limala, associate professor, as principal investigator along with four co-principal investigators from the University. The findings of the impact study were presented by team during the review meeting, stated an update from Nagaland Education Mission Society.

It mentioned that currently, Samagra Shiksha is implementing 11 type-I KGBV for elementary girls with 100 intake capacity each and 11 KGBV type-IV for secondary girls with 100 intake capacity each for the educationally backward blocks (EBBs) located in the eastern districts of the state, 13 NSCBAV- residential hostels for girls with 50 intake capacity each in 11 districts and Morung Concept of Education in four districts under state specific innovative projects.

It stated that the chief secretary reviewed the performances of the NGOs and districts implementing the projects. He appreciated the NU Impact Study team for the comprehensive study report and informed the State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha to analyse the report and prepare actionable points for necessary action.

He also appreciated the implementing agencies/ NGOs for showing improvement and encouraged them to maximise utilisation of whatever resources provided by the Government of India to ensure best possible outcome in supporting the students.

While acknowledging the improvement indicated by some implementing agencies, the chief secretary also directed the State Mission Director to initiate action for non-performers.

A total of 53 members including Temsunaro Aier, state mission director of Samagra Shiksha; T Yangpvuthung Kikon, additional secretary of School Education & SCERT; Hiazu Meru, additional secretary of School Education; Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, joint secretary of School Education; along with officials from the Samagra Shiksha, district officials and NGOs involved in the implementation of various projects attended the meeting.
