Officials of the WDCA, representatives from the NCA, and players gathered for the selection trials on Tuesday at the local ground in Wokha.

WOKHA—, Aug. 1 (EMN): The Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) on Monday conducted a selection trial at the Wokha local ground. The selection trial was conducted under the directive of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) for both male and female players.

Officials of the WDCA scrutinised the players before the selection trials. Representatives from the NCA and coach Kechesin Keppen, who was assigned for the selection trials in Wokha and Tseminyu districts, were present to assess the players.

Two girl players for all age categories and ten boys in the under-16 category participated in the selection trials after screening by WDCA.

NCA coach Kechesin Keppen said Wokha district is performing well in cricket and wished for WDCA to continue nurturing good players. He observed that the boys excelled in bowling but needed to further hone their skills through extensive practice.

Keppen informed that player selection will be based on overall performance ratings, which will be sent to NCA for consideration from each district. He mentioned that though trials were originally planned in Dimapur, NCA decided to send representatives to each district considering the inconvenience to district cricket associations.
