Nagaland: Chakhesang Public Organisation not participating in bandh called by NPAC
Kohima, Jan. 13 (EMN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) on Friday said that it was ‘disturbed’ by the decision of the Nagaland People’s Action Committee (NPAC) to impose a blanket bandh on January 14 and that it will neither participate nor enforce it in its jurisdiction.
This came a day after the NPAC had on Thursday called for a statewide bandh from 6 am to 12 noon on January 14 to express resentment against the government of India’s inability to find a solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.
‘The CPO makes its stand clear that we have not endorsed or authorised NPAC. Therefore, the latter’s decision does not have any bearing on the organisation and the participation of CPO in the proposed bandh does not arise,’ read the statement from CPO.
“The NPAC as such cannot give any directions to the apex tribal body of the Chakhesang in any matter,” it added.
The organisation went on to say that Sükrünye celebration, the premier festival of the Chakhesang community, is underway.
