Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): While highlighting the plight of educated unemployed youth, entrepreneurs and farming sectors in the state, the Public Grievance department of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has questioned the government if it has drained all resources to address the issues in its programmes and policies.

In a joint statement issued by NPCC Public Grievance department chairman, S Supongmeren Jamir, and the co-chairman, Kedou Watsah, questioned the state government if it has any vision to generate the employment avenues by setting up factories, industries and small scale development. It also questioned if it has vision to facilitate availing loans and other facilities for the youth from the financial institutions.

The Nagaland Congress also questioned if the state government has undertaken any MOU for marketing of farm products with the other states or if it envisaged accommodating all the unemployed youth to the state government departments and thereby drained the entire state exchequer without having any scope of developmental works in the state?

Besides, it also asked whether the state government would continue making excuses on law and order problems without realising that is governing the state of affairs.

Making reference to the annual report of Personal and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) department 2020-21, it claimed that the total number of government employees in 82 departments was 144177 out of which 121207 are working employees and 22970 are non-working employees.

While questioning the existence of 22970 non-working employees, it has suggested accommodating the deserving genuine educated youth against those non-working employees. It also questioned the stand and actions taken against those non-working employees by the state government.

Also referring to the guidelines of the Finance ministry which stated that salary for the government should not exceed 35% of the total state budget, the Congress alleged that the present state government spent roughly 65% of the total budget with a mere 35% budget for development works.

In light of the above stated circumstances, urged every citizen to ponder on the issues for the sake of the upcoming generation. To bring about reformation, it urged the citizens to make proper use of their votes by election visionary leaders irrespective of the parties.

It further stated that NPCC would stand committed with visions and true conscience to serve the citizens of the state. It also appealed to the voters, especially the youth, to restore the past glory of the Nagas.
