The director stated that the department is playing an important role in channelising the energy of youth for positive development and overall development of the state, which included promotion of Music and Arts (TaFMA), adventure programme, outdoor learning, personality development, youth festivals and participation in regional and national levels.

Akumla also pointed out that the department has been functioning with inadequate manpower, which according to her is hampering the smooth flow of affairs.

The commissioner and secretary of Tourism, Kitto Zhimomi, highlighted the department’s activities and visions. He pointed out that the strategies of the department are to identify and export all key tourism products, develop quality tourism infrastructure and facilitation services, provide human resources development, develop marketing plans and create enabling environment for local tourism stakeholders.

After taking note of the Tourism department’s issues, the chief secretary called upon the department to be industry-friendly, to register tourism guides, follow the single window app, calculate the total industry output and see the feedback of the tourists.

Alam also asked the department to come up with a policy to encourage entrepreneurs for vehicle tourism with better luxury vehicles, give more publicity to boost tourism and see what the people want.
