Kohima, Oct. 12 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is currently in New Delhi, met with several Union ministers including Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari and discussed about the foothill road and other projects.
CM on Tuesday updated that he had a “fruitful” meeting with the Union minister.
“We discussed about several projects, including the foothill road, which is to be taken up on priority. Grateful to him for his unswerving support,” he tweeted.
He had raised the matter of the foothill road with central leaders including Prime Minister on several occasions.
The state government had in September this year decided to repair the foothill road and directed the department concerned to make the road motorable while awaiting approval from Centre to declare it as a national highway. Accordingly, INR 20 crore was it.
The foothill road, also known as Trans Nagaland Highway/ Trans Nagaland Expressway, from Khelma to Tizit encompassing six districts of Nagaland is expected to boost the economy of the people if implemented.
In another update, Rio informed that he had met with Union Minister of I&B and Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur and discussed on “matters related to development of sports in Nagaland, especially infrastructure development”.
He also extended gratitude to Thakur for his support and encouragement.
The CM had met with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas on Monday.
