KOHIMA — The Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA) is conducting a 15-day coaching camp for 26 players who will represent the state at the upcoming North East Inter-State and Open Badminton Championship to be held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, from August 16–19.

The players were selected across Nagaland after their performances at the successful 45th Inter-District Badminton Championship 2023, according to former state champion and two-time runner up at the Indian Masters (Veteran) National Badminton Championships, coach Tajenkaba.

The residential coaching camp is being held at the State Indoor Stadium in Kohima.

Of the 26 players, six will compete in the senior men’s category, five in the senior women’s category, seven in the junior boys category, and another seven in the junior girls category at the Itanagar championships.

Tajenkaba said the coaching is aligned with the revised regulations and the new rules of badminton and that the NBA is using state-of-the-art equipment in collaboration with Li-Ning for training the players.

Tajenkaba expressed confidence in the Nagaland team’s preparations for the upcoming mega event, despite acknowledging the challenges that players from the state pose.

“We are fully committed to pushing our players to achieve greater heights,” he stated.

On August 14, the team will leave for Itanagar with coach Tajenkaba and manager Amardeep Gurung.
