Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): The additional deputy commissioner of Bhandari, Tiameren Chang, has iterated total ban on transportation and slaughtering of pig for consumption in the sub-division.

In this regard, he has urged the department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry to continue monitoring and remain vigilant against in the larger interest of public health safety. He also asked the Sector Commander of the CRPF to cooperate in imposing a total ban on butchering pigs at Merapani Bazaar, a DIPR report stated on Thursday.

Chang issued this order on July 29 as the samples of death swine under Bhandari sub-division, which were sent for test at ELISA lab, Kohima, had confirmed positive for Classical Swine Fever (CSF) by the department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry on July 10.

In another order issued on the same day, ADC Bhandari also stated that no individuals or returnees would be allowed to enter or cross over to the state of Nagaland through Bhandari sub-division without clearance from the district authorities and health authorities concerned.

He stated that the purpose of restricting any unprecedented entry of individuals and groups without safety clearance is a standing order so that the public in the sub-division and the rest of Wokha district and beyond are not exposed to the dangers of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“No unauthorised persons shall be allowed to enter the state of Nagaland, Wokha district or Bhandari sub-division through Wokha-Merapani road or any undesignated points nor allowed to go out of Wokha district as Covid-19 positive cases have been reportedly surged in the neighbouring districts of Golaghat and Jorhat in Assam,” the order stated.
