The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) On Friday appealed to the special investigation team (SIT) probing the Oting killing incident to expedite the investigation in order to deliver justice to the victims as early as possible.

It came a day after the SIT revealed that it had completed the probe, including examining dozens of army personnel, but was waiting for the forensic laboratory test results to submit its final report to the competent court.

The Naga Students’ Federation appreciates the government for all the efforts made to deliver justice for the Oting incident victims. However one month’s time given to the investigation team to submit the report has lapsed, said NSF president Kegwayhun Tep.

‘We would like to appeal to the concerned authority that once SIT submits its report to the court after receiving inputs from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), the same be made known to the public,’ he stated.

Further, the federation appealed to the concerned authority reveal ‘whatever course of action has been taken and initiated on the jawans and officers involved the Oting incident’.

It may be mentioned that the government of Nagaland had on December 5 constituted a SIT following the killing of 13 civilians by the Indian security forces in Oting on December 4, before one more civilian was killed during a protest in Mon town the following day.

The ADGP (Law and Order) Sandeep M Tamgadge had said at a press conference on Thursday that the investigation team had examined 85 civilians, including the two survivors of the botched ambush, and also 37 Army officers and personnel.
