Naga solution should be based on Framework Agreement, says Tuccu
Our Reporter
Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): NSCN (IM) Chairman Q Tuccu on Friday said the group will only accept a solution based on the Framework Agreement (FA), which includes ‘sovereignty, flag and land of the Nagas’, and that fight will continue until it is fulfilled.
He was addressing the co-ordination meeting of Naga national workers from Nagaland state under the agenda “Reaffirming of one people, one nation” at Agri –Expo, Chumoukedima.
We will never compromise our Naga rights but stand firm, he said while asserting that the Nagas flag is the identity of the Nagas.
Nagas are one and we have one common goal and issue, he said as he reminded thousands of participants about the sacrifices made by “our ancestors” for the Naga cause.
On public outcry over the delay in solution, he said that ‘they cannot give the rights of the Nagas to the Indians for the sake of Naga solution and return empty handed’. He, therefore, appealled to the public to believe and wait patiently, because “there is nothing that we cannot achieve and the solution will happen soon”.
Stating that framing of the FA was not easy, he accused the government of India of changing it.
He also shared that ceasefire is good but sometime “we want to create a situation so that the Indian government will also take serious.”
Vice Chairman of NSCN (IM) Tongmeth Wangnao asked the Nagas not to manipulate others in the name of freedom of speech.
“If you want freedom, tell the truth and try to tell the truth because honesty is the best policy and to be honest you need to speak the truth,” he said, adding that “one day or another, Nagas will be together, free from all domination”.
Members of collective leadership, Lt. Col. (Retd) Neipfupe Venuh, TT Among and RT Tsanglao also spoke at the event.
Naga national workers from 16 regions of Nagaland state also adopted the following resolutions:
- We do acknowledge the inalienable political foundation laid down by the founding leaders on the basis of the Naga plebiscite of May 16, 1951, and further, reaffirm the principle and commitment of one people one Nation.
- We reject any kind of divisive and repressive policies perpetrated upon the Nagas by the adversaries and its collaborations on the basis of the arbitrary administrative boundaries.
- We firmly believe, profess ad stand by the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 for an early honourable and acceptable solution as two sides have already agreed to work out the details on the competencies.
- Any solution that disregards historical and political rights of the Nagas by repeating the act of another Naga People’s Convention (NPC) and imposing its will upon us is not acceptable.
- As necessitated by the situation, the house does not reiterate its stand by the decision of National Assembly held on may 31st 2022, to uphold and protect Nagas Unique history and national principle at any cost under the present leadership.
