Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN):  Edwin Kubzar from Nagaland needs no introduction especially after winning a national K-Pop contest a few years ago. The singer and model has added another feather to his hat by getting himself a place on an MTV show and could stand a chance to win a Myntra contract worth one million rupees.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Kubzar informed that the show, Myntra Fashion Superstar, is a competition between social media influencers from all over India to display their talent and see if they have what it takes to be India’s next fashion superstar.

“The winner will get prize money of one million rupees and a one year contract with MTV and Myntra,” informed Kubzar.

With Sushmita Sen, noted designer Manish Malhotra and Malika Dua as judges, the show consists of influencers from different backgrounds representing something unique in each of them.

“Everyone is bringing something distinctive to the table so expect a lot of laughs, giggles, entertainment and obviously fashion,” said the budding model.

In response to how he got selected for the show, Kubzar said that he was contacted on Instagram and was asked if he wanted an audition for the MTV series.

“It’s a one of a kind show so I said yes. The online audition process started a week later. I submitted my video, followed by a few virtual interviews; though I was confident the interview was a little tough and daunting and I couldn’t tell if they liked me or not,” said Kubzar.

Having started singing and modelling at the age of 18, Kubzar said that he was always fond of the entertainment industry.

“My dad would always encourage me to watch dance shows or music and fashion competitions. I think that is where I got the encouragement from and also fashion itself is a medium to express yourself,” he said.

When asked how the pandemic has changed his life, Kubzar was quick to respond that even though he missed his family and was worried about them, it was during the pandemic that he was selected for the show.

“To get selected for a TV show during the pandemic just goes to show that you can’t be too quick to judge life; anything can happen and change overnight,” said Kubzar.

On one of the most important life lessons he has learned, Kubzar shared is that ‘it is best to be and let be.’

“When you are completely yourself and not worried about how people would perceive you, that is when you start living. I have never felt more liberated be it in the fashion industry or life. That’s when you start living, I’ve never felt more liberated be it in fashion or life,” he added.

The show will premiere on November 1 and telecast every Sunday at 7 pm on MTV.
