N B Singh chairs first Sangai festival meeting

Imphal, August 28 (EMN): Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired the first meeting of the organising committee of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2017 at Chief Minister’s Secretariat took. Sangai festival site for the first time the annual Manipur Sangai Festival 2017 will be inaugurated near the Keibul Lamjao National Park, the country’s only floating national park located on the southern part of Loktaka lake, 45 km south of Imphal.
Earlier the 10 days tourism festival which was held from every November 21 ever year was inaugurated at Hapta Kangjeibung ground in Imphal. However the Hapta Kangjeibung shall continue to be the main venue of the festival, the meeting decided. Opening of Stalls and other activities shall also be taken up at the Trade & Permanent Exhibition Centre at Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Imphal West. The venue for indigeneous games & sports was decided to be at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and Mapal Kangjeibung.
Unlike the earlier editions the venue for the adventure & water sports conducted under MMTA shall be at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex whereas the Water sports like local boat race, water skiing, wind surfing, motor boating etc. will take place at Takmu Water Sports Facility.
The meeting also decided to invite any one either of the Union Minister of External Affairs or Union Minister of Tourism or DoNER Minister at the opening ceremony.
