Dimapur, August 30 (EMN): Morakjo Village Council (MVC) has strongly condemned the midnight raid, at the residence of one of its prominent member and a senior State govt. officer, Robert Odyuo, in the wee hours on August 24, by the Indian Army, 32 Assam Rifles firing range, while he was out of station.
“Taking strong exception to the threatening and intimidating conduct of the army men, including two female officers, the MVC statement said that, the mental and emotional stress caused to his minor daughter and niece who were preparing for their quarterly exams and also fear psychosis inflicted on other family members is morally reprehensible,” the press release issued by MVC chairman stated. While questioning the motive behind the raid, the MVC further added that, treating respected govt. officer like common criminals is totally unacceptable and uncalled for and appealed to the top army authorities to look into the matter and take stringent action against the officer’s responsible.
Further the MVC wondered if the army have ever heard of the fundamental right to privacy and whether there was any constitutional safeguard for innocent public against such irresponsible conduct in the name of AFPSA.

“The psychological threat and intimidation meted out to his daughter and niece and other female members of his family, thereby causing immense mental and emotional stress.
“The DME questioned the Army authority the reason behind this terrorizing conduct of the army men under the guise of AFSPA. Treating respected members of the society like anti national elements just to earn brownie points in their service a record is strongly objected to,” the DME release stated.
The DME further requested the higher army brass to inquire into the incident and take stringent action against the army officers and jawans which included two female officers.
