MTLT asks job incentives for Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts winners

Dimapur, April 3 (EMN): Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) congratulated Longtsukumba Ao and Arsenba Ozukum for securing silver and bronze medals at the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) World Championship, which was held recently in the Netherlands.

However, MTLT expressed sadness to observe that except for a congratulatory tweet by the chief minister and the grand welcome of the ‘heroes’ by some organisations, there seemed to be no formal programme to felicitate the winners by the state government, a press release from the organisation informed.

MTLT questioned the state government whether there is any scheme to felicitate the GAMMA winners, who have excelled in an international arena. It strongly urged the state government to treat the GAMMA medallists with the same respect accorded to an international player with a job or other incentives to enable them to scale greater heights in the days to come.

MTLT also urged the state government to take a closer look at the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and try to formulate some clear-cut policies for the promotion of the sport and MMA sportspersons in the state.

“It must be understood that every discipline of sport is important and MMA, which the Naga people have taken a spontaneous liking, is surely poised to gain more popularity in the state and even in the country”, MTLT stated. 

MTLT also congratulated ‘The Combat Academy’, Dimapur for facilitating the martial artists to compete in the international arena. MTLT has termed it as a proud moment for the Naga people as the Naga fighters competed with some of the best MMA fighters in the world and excelled in their competition. It stated that their participation and winning the silver and bronze medals in the recently concluded tournament should serve as an inspiration for all aspiring MMA fighters in the state.
