MOKOKCHUNG — In recognition of “outstanding contribution and devoted service” rendered towards the uplift of the society, the Royal Enfield Mokokchung (REM), on Monday, conferred its Honorary Awards 2023 to the Mokokchung Press Club (MPC).
In a brief award ceremony held at Top Floor Café, Mokokchung, Moatemjen Yaden, REM chief, said that the REM honorary award is given to honour individuals, groups and associations who have distinctively contributed to society.
He said the fifth REM honorary award is conferred to the MPC in recognition of the club’s “sacrifices and contribution towards the betterment of our society.”
Yaden added that REM was started not only for riding and touring places, but also to serve society by engaging in social services.
REM has been actively engaged in Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Road Safety Week and tree plantation drives.
The REM chief also informed that the group sets a yearly calendar for social service activities where they partner with the district administration and other organisations, besides the four chapter rides they undertake in a year.
On behalf of the club, MPC president Limalenden Longkumer, thanked the REM for the recognition, while mentioning that it is very rare for the press community in Mokokchung to receive recognition and appreciation.
“Perhaps, it is the first time that anybody has ever recognised the media community in Mokokchung,” he said.
He also expressed hope that with such motivational gestures, the media will perform their duties even better and encouraged the REM to continue their selfless service to society.
Longkumer also informed that the MPC was formed in 2008 by eight members, and today the club has 13 members who are performing their duties to the best of their ability.
He further said that besides looking after the welfare of the media community, the Mokokchung Press Club’s objective is to take Mokokchung to the world,
It is to be mentioned that REM was conceived in 2018 by eight like-minded enthusiastic riders and today REM has 30 members.
The REM also received the Governor’s Award in 2021.
