More than 2 lakh registered unorganised workers in Nagaland

Dimapur: The eShram portal has recorded a total of 2,18,759 unorganised workers in Nagaland as of March 10, 2023

This was informed by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Rameswar Teli in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on March 10.

According to the minister, the eShram portal has registered a total of 28.64 crore unorganised workers across the country, while a total of around 3250 representations have been lodged in the Grievance Management System claiming accidental deaths/ disability by eShram registrants as on March 31, 2022.

When considering the registration of unorganised workers on the eShram portal across Northeast states, Assam has the highest number of registrations with 69,37,489, followed by Tripura with 8,44,823, Manipur with 4,05,373, Meghalaya with 2,89,751, Nagaland with 2,18,759, Mizoram with 58,345, and Sikkim with 25,016.

The state-wise registration of unorganised workers on the eShram portal indicates that Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of registrations in the country, with a total of 8, 30, 22, 007,  followed by Bihar with 2,85,73,732  registrations and West Bengal with 2,58,06,407 registrations.

While, four states have also recorded more than one crore registrations of unorganised workers on the eShram portal, namely Madhya Pradesh with 1,69,41,863 registrations, Maharashtra with 1,35,07,560 registrations, Odisha with 1,33,30,505 registrations, and Rajasthan with 1,28,21,298 registrations.

Lakshadweep, Sikkim, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have recorded the lowest number of registrations of unorganised workers on the eShram portal in the country, with 2,442,25,016, and 28,541 registrations respectively.

The eShram portal is integrated with National Career Service (NCS) portal and till date over 13 Lakh eShram job seekers have registered on the portal, which is also integrated with Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM).

PM-SYM is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for unorganised sector workers who are aged between 18-40 years.
