More rain expected in Nagaland, other north-eastern states
DIMAPUR — Widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), is likely over Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during next four days, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.
This is in view of the east-west trough from northeast Rajasthan to Manipur, which runs from the cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to northeast Bay of Bengal across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.
The IMD stated that Nagaland is expected to experience moderate rain and thundershowers at many locations, along with thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain at isolated areas on June 23 and 24, while moderate rain and thundershowers is very likely at many places on June 25 and 26.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya during the next four days. There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 25 and 26, and isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh on June 25 and 26, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura were expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall on June 23 and 24.
According to the IMD warning, thunderstorms and lightning is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. While heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur on June 23.
It also reported that heat wave condition is very likely in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh during 23 to 25 and over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 24 and 25 June and abate thereafter.
