Mon observes Doctor’s Day

Dimapur, July 1: For the first time in the history, District Hospital Mon (DHM) observed Doctor’s Day with Superintendent of Police, Mon, Yangba Konyak, as the chief guest on July 1 at the OPD Complex DHM. On the occasion, NGOs of the district and KNSK felicitated the doctors.
Felicitating the doctors, SP Mon, Yangba Konyak, congratulated the doctors and staff of DHM for bagging the Kayalap award. He appealed all to rededicate their noble service and provide better health care to the people. He asserted that the profession of both the police force and the doctors are correlated in providing 24X7 services on security and cater better health service to the people.
Lamenting that people come to the hospital in the last moment with little hope of surviving after visiting prayer houses and local medication, Yangba suggested the members to create awareness to change the people’s mindset. He was optimistic that with the consolidated efforts of the hospital staff, NGOs and other government departments, the scenario of the hospital and its service would be transformed from better to best.Dr. UK Konyak, CMO, Mon, shared his life testimony as a doctor in Mon district. He has likened the service of doctors to that of security force in protecting lives of the people from various diseases. He urged his colleagues to render best medical service for the people of the district. Asserting that DHM was awarded with Kayalap Award for the best hospital with 85% marks in the state level competition, he appealed to all concerned to strive harder to raise it to 91% of marks and make DHM cleanliest hospital in the country.
KNSK president, Mrs Lomei Konyak, while felicitating the doctors of Mon, thanked them for rendering noble service for the people of Mon. She urged the doctors to continue their selfless service in saving the lives of the people.
Earlier, Dr. Wungyong, SMO & MS Incharge DHM, made a brief power point presentation on the significance of the day. He said the day was observed to create awareness on the roles, responsibilities and the importance of doctors as well as promote medical professionals to come closer and follow the responsibilities of their profession very dedicatedly. He also briefed on the biography of Dr. BC Roy, a legendary physician whose birth anniversary is celebrated as doctor’s day.
Kaikho, District Statistical Officer, DHM, presented the overall statistics of the hospital under OPD, ER, and IPD from January 2016 – June 2016. He also briefed on deliveries, minor and major operations done during the 6 month period starting from January 2016.
Presenting a power point on oral health, Dr. Chingo Wallim, Dental Officer DHM, spoke on tobacco habits prevalent in the state of Nagaland and India. He also briefed on pre-cancer, causes of oral cancer and fate of oral cancer for the awareness of the mass.
Dr. Yingnei, MO DHM, who chaired the programme, proposed the welcome address, while Dr. Yanang, MO DHM, pronounced the vote of thanks. Ms. Liang and Ms Amei honored the doctors with their special number “You raise me up.”
The programme was attended by the government officials, NGOs and other civil societies of Mon town.
