Mon legislators hold discussion to tackle dengue

DIMAPUR — Concern over the increase in dengue cases, six elected legislators of Mon district visited District Hospital, Mon, on October 11 and held meeting with the health officials.

The main purpose of the visit was to know the management system, requirements of the hospital and what more needs to be done to tackle the situation, stated an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon.

The members were K Kongam Konyak, W Chingang Konyak, Mankhao Konyak, Manpon Konyak, A Nyamnyei Konyak and Nyeiba Konyak.

During the meeting in the office of the Medical Superintendent, Kongam highlighted on the purpose of their visit and appreciated the medical establishment of the district for effective handling of the cases so far. On behalf of the Mon legislators, he also donated an amount of INR one lakh towards the welfare of poor patients at the District Hospital, Mon.

Meanwhile, the CMO of Mon, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo and the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mereninla Senlem, briefed on the current scenario of dengue cases in the hospital and district.

Report stated that different departments including Medical, administration and representatives from Konyak Union and political leaders spoke in the meeting.

Following discussions on the problems and requirements, the members resolved to undertake stringent cleanliness drive in all the wards at the earliest, which would be initiated by the district administration. As the disease is preventable, the members also resolved to implement preventive actions and awareness in all the blocks before the disease reaches interior villages.

The visiting legislators also asked the departments to list out all the requirements of the district and the hospital so that they could facilitate for early redressal.
