Mokokchung Inter-Ward Football: Arkong, Artang and Penli enter quarter finals

Mokokchung, April 14 (EMN): Arkong clinched a comfortable 4-1 win over Marepkong to qualify for the quarter stage in the ongoing Inter Ward Football Tournament at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung on April 14.

After losing to Mongsenbai, Pool A winner in the inaugural match, Arkong needed 3 points to enter the knockout stage. The Arkong side were scored by Tajungsang (10 minutes), Talijungba (26 minutes), Arikong (30 minutes) and Inovi Chishi (51 minutes).The lone goal for Marepkong was scored by Imlisanen.

Yashimeren brilliance brace and the ever-reliable Chuba Imchen netted a goal to send Artang into the quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over Dilong in the second match.

Senior player Chuba Imchen broke the deadlock in 8 minutes of the game for Artang and another brace from Yashimeren in the 24 minutes and 40 minutes respectively made the course for earning full points to get berth in the quarter stage. Artang and Penli hold 7 points each but with a GD 4 earned them as Pool B winner. The consolation goal for Dilong was scored by Temsuyanger.

Penli ended Alempang with a 2-0 victory and qualified the quarter stage as Pool B looser, just losing the winner spot by GD 3 with Artang in the third match. Alempang own goal in 2 minutes of the game gave Penli an early lead in the first half and Imsuwapang made it 2-0 in the 46 minute to seal the match.
