Mokokchung Inter Club Badminton Championship 2017 begins

Mokokchung, Sep. 28 (EMN): Mokokchung Inter Club Badminton Championship 2017 got underway today with Imli Jamir, a businessman from Dimapur as the Guest of Honour at Indoor Stadium Mokokchung.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, the guest of honour said that Nagas have natural talents but lamented that our promising youths do not have finances to promote their talents towards a more professional field.
He also maintained that Naga should learn the realities of sports before we attempt to portray our talents, adding sports knows no barrier in religion, tribe or country and it require only hard work and discipline.
In this regard, Jamir, urged the participants to have positive attitude and never give up spirit whether they win or lose and make themselves more discipline and try harder in every stumbling blocks they face.
Earlier, the president of Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA) Er Toshikaba delivered the welcome speech, MTBA Associate Pastor Bendang offered the invocation and Chief Referee administrated the oath taking of the teams.
A total of eight players from Mokokchung who won medals at Northeast Championship 2017 at Aizwal and Catch them Young Tournament, Kohima were facilitated during the programme.
This year 10 teams will be participanting for the coveted titles. Team includes: Golden Features Chungtia, Team Bendangsunep Mokokchung, The Shuttlers’ Chuchuyimpang (Team A & B), L4 Impur, Native Shuttlers Association Mopungchuket (Team A & B), Badminton Association Khensa, Soyim Smashers (SSS, Ungma) and Longsa Sporting Club.
The following categories will be played during the 3-day tourney: U-13 Boys Singles, U-15 Girls Singles, U-17 Boys Singles, U-19 Mixed Doubles, Men’s doubles, + 35 Doubles and +45 Doubles.
