MOKOKCHUNG — As part of the ‘100 days special awareness campaigns’ under SANKALP: HEW, the Mokokchung district administration and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW)-Mission Shakti under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organised a one-day exposure visit to adolescent-friendly health clinics on Wednesday.

A total of 30 students of Government High School in Dilong were chosen to visit IMDH and UPHC Yimyu as part of an exposure programme. A tour guide of all the specialist units at IMDH was provided to the pupils.

At UPHC Yimyu, an awareness programme on adolescent’s health management and menstrual hygiene was conducted. Measurements of each student’s height, weight and blood group test were also taken.

In another report, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Child Welfare Committee and Child Helpline Mokokchung promptly intervened to address the situation following a recent altercation between school students that went viral.

A meeting was convened with the concerned school authority and discipline committee, resulting in a 15-day suspension for the students involved.

However, considering the potential impact of prolonged suspension on the students’ mental health and academic performance, the three organisations requested the school authority to reconsider the duration of the suspension.

Additionally, the DCPU, Child Welfare Committee and Child Helpline Mokokchung visited the local police station to discuss the matter and obtain permission to provide counseling services to the suspended students at the DCPU office.

In a notice sent to the parents, DCPU informed that counselors from the DCPU and Child Helpline will provide counseling to the suspended students including those involved in the altercation and the three students who recorded and shared the incident on social media.

The collaborative effort aims to address the incident’s aftermath, support the students’ well-being and promote a safe and conducive learning environment.
