DIMAPUR — Citing cyclonic circulations over northeast Assam and northeast Bangladesh in lower tropospheric levels, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted widespread to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, in the northeastern states.

Fairly widespread to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from April 22 to the 28th, the IMD said on Monday.

In Nagaland, district wise data shows that, on April 23, isolated rainfall is very likely in Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Mon and Tuensang districts. Scattered rainfall is expected in the state’s Peren, Kohima and Mon districts on April 25 and the 26th, with isolated rainfall in the rest of the districts in the state, it said.

On April 26, scattered rainfall is likely over Dimapur and Kohima districts, with isolated rainfall over the other districts across the state. On April 27 too, Kohima, Mokokchung and Longleng districts are to expect scattered rainfall, with the same conditions continuing in Dimapur and Kohima on April 28 along with isolated rainfall in the other districts, the IMD said.
