Dimapur, June 7: In line with the assurances given by the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board has submitted to the Nagaland government the proposal for a civil services coaching center in the town. The report urged the state to pursue the matter with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to set up said institute at Mokokchung.

The proposal was sent with a unanimous decision during the monthly meeting of the board on June 7.

It may be recalled that the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs had given an assurance to set up a coaching institute at Mokokchung town under the center’s skill development scheme. Oram had assured so during the Moatsu Festival at Kangtsung village in the district on May 5.

In other affairs, the board members discussed problems faced by employees in Changtongya administrative circle “as the treasury office at Changtongya is non-banking treasury.” The board has decided to forward the matter to the department in concern to “convert it into banking-treasury to ease problem in drawing payments to employees and the public.”

The meeting also approved the LADP 2015-16 schemes in lieu of the MNGREGA convergence fund.

Application seeking grant-in-aid in respect of Head Start Montessori School in Tuli and a proposal for upgrading the middle school of Anaki Yimsen to government high school were also approved.

During discussions on issues relating the development of the district, Yanger Pongen, executive engineer of the PHED sought ‘close coordination’ between line departments to ensure that developmental works being undertaken by a particular department would not damage those set up by others. Due to lack of coordination between the departments, for instance, pipe lines set by the PHED become get damaged or destroyed during work pertaining to new roads or road widening projects. Pongen felt strongly that better mechanisms need to be introduced to prevent such recurrences.

The officer also called upon the officials to give importance to the nationwide Swaach Bharat mission stating that ‘all of us’ were stake holders to achieving the goals of the mission.

The board has also released an album commemorating Mokokchung town’s 125 years and presented certificate of appreciation to various committees associated with the event.
