DIMAPUR, JULY 15: The Mokokchung district planning board has decided to propose the state government with the idea of establishing a Badminton Sports Academy in the town. A DIPR report informed that the decision was taken during the monthly DPDB meeting of Mokokchung on July 15 last.“The agenda was submitted by the District Sports Officer, Mokokchung, K Libemo Jami. While highlighting the concept of the project the DSO maintained that the Administrative HQ of Mokokchung district is best suited for setting up such Academy, considering the feasibility aspect like, availability of sport infrastructures facilities, talent pool, sporting potentiality etc,” according to the report.
The long term vision is to make the Badminton Sports Academy a centre for nurturing and training budding young talent and make it as a sports feeder centre to reputed sports academics and institutions in the country, it reported.
