DIMAPUR — Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) celebrated its 13th foundation-cum-cultural day on Friday with Prof. GT Thong, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University (NU), Kohima campus, as the special guest.

Speaking at the programme, Prof. Thong mentioned that a strong foundation and continuous efforts of institutions would result in quality education. He also emphasised on the importance of hard work and commitment in student life, stated an update from the institute.

Dwelling on the Naga culture, the special guest stated that brave persons are required to save the indigenous culture of Nagaland. He further motivated the student teachers to take initiative to save the future of Naga culture.

Report stated that the significance of foundation day was shared by Dr. Kate Dandesh Kumar, principal of MITE, and mentioned that its founder, Late Dr. S Hekha Mao, had a vision of imparting high-quality education to student teachers.

“Without his vision, mission, motto and values, this institute would not have become what it is today,” Dr. Kumar said.

He also mentioned that student teachers from the institute are placed in university ranks every year. While underlining the importance of culture in society, he encouraged the students to organise cultural day programme in educational institutions.

Performances on cultural show, folk dance, skits and snail eating competition were other highlights of the event.
