Miscreants vandalise newly constructed pathway at Westyard junction in Dimapur

Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): In yet another incident of public apathy towards keeping Dimapur clean and beautification efforts, a newly constructed pathway at the Westyard junction has been vandalised by miscreants.
A concerned citizen told this newspaper that the spot at Westyard junction, which was earlier used as an unauthorised dumping site, was transformed into a pathway by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on Sunday, April 3, only to be found with one of the bollards flattened the following day.
The Westyard junction had a garbage disposal issue, and the residents feared that it might pose a threat to the overall wellbeing of the citizens. To prevent unauthorised dumping of waste in the area, the DMC had converted it to a pathway, it was informed.
It may be mentioned that this is not the first case of beautification projects in Dimapur being vandalised by miscreants. In the past, a dumping site opposite Hotel Senti in Dimapur, which was converted into a parkway, was found vandalised and decorative items stolen. However, it has been restored and maintained recently.
