DIMAPUR — The Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, visited The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) at Sodzulhou-Kozabe village in Chümoukedima district on Saturday.
He was accompanied by Sentiyanger Pongen, additional secretary for Higher and Technical Education, and Imsongmeren, joint secretary for Tourism, along with other officials, according to a press release.
Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, director and head of the WIBP Special Observer Group for Nagaland, Dr. H.N. Dutta, vice-chancellor of TGOUN, and other senior officials briefed the minister on various programmes, developments, and activities of the university.
Along also engaged in discussions and shared insights with university officials. He emphasised the importance of professional programmes that will be globally viable and attract students in Nagaland to study locally.
He also expressed the need to recruit indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education.
