Mini Hornbill Sükrünye-cum-inter-ward tournament concludes
Dimapur, Jan. 24 (EMN): The mini Hornbill Sükrünye-cum-inter-ward tournament organised by the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) concluded at Phek local ground on Jan. 21.
Zion ward won the first position in the log cutting competition, followed by Hebron-II and Mission Compound in the second and third position. Hebron-1 won the first position in the traditional fire making competition, while Bethany II won the second position, a DIPR report informed.
In bamboo stilt race, Mission compound emerged as the winner with Bible Hill and New Ward as the second and third. Bethany II won the first position in folk song followed by Zion and Hebron 1 as the runners-up.
Bethany II secured the first position in the greased bamboo pole race, while New Ward and Jericho II secured the second and third position respectively. In bamboo pole race, the first position was secured by Jericho II with Zion and Jericho 1 as the second and Bible Hill as the third position.
Hebron 1 emerged as the winner of the tug-of-war (women), while Jericho II and Bethany II emerged as the second and third. In tug-of-war (men), Bible Hill won the first position followed by New Colony Ward and Bethel as the second and third.
Earlier, Razukhru D Vasa, DRDA project director, who was the valedictory guest speaker appreciated the society for taking part in various activities like cleanliness drive and congratulated the players, while encouraging them to exhibit their talent even in the higher levels.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Zavekho Vero, advisor PTYS and invocation was pronounced by Chisata Swuro, director, BHBC, CYE. A special presentation was sung by Shezo, Lutuzo and Keveluta, while Chikhove Keyho, Art and Culture PTYS delivered the words of gratitude.
