DIMAPUR — MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur celebrated its 38th annual day at the school premises with pomp and gaiety on November 8.
The programme, presided over by Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese and president of the school, commenced with Bible reading and invocation prayer by Manju Mathew, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, an update stated.
In his presidential address, Alexios congratulated the school administration and teachers for their tireless efforts in bringing notable achievements.
He paid rich tribute to the founder of the school, late Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius. He said that despite shortcomings, “we are committed to the vision and mission of the school to full fill the dream of the founder of the school.”
“The school celebrates its 38 years of hard work, determination, growth, resilience and collaboration. The journey together was worthwhile because of all the learning, fun, values and skills our students have acquired with the help of our teachers and the support staff,” he added.
The theme for this year’s annual day celebration was ‘The culture mosaic of India.’ The various cultural presentations by the students from Nursery to class 12 enthralled the gathering of parents.
Rev. Fr. Giju George, vice president of the school, in his welcome address, highlighted the activities of the school. Thanking the parents for steadfastly supporting the school, he said the annual day celebration is particularly dedicated to the parents.
The school principal, Reji Abraham presented the annual report. School captain, Anok Konyak spoke on behalf of the students while Rempeni Lotha spoke on behalf of the parents.
The event also witnessed the felicitation of class topper students with Mar Theodosius Award. The Diocese Level Mar Theodosius award for students who topped in the HSLC examination was given to Amina Begum (rank three) and Shiyab Uddin (rank 7).
Earlier His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius was accorded a traditional Naga welcome by the school management, students and teachers.
